I.T. Contract work abroad

    Hi All,
I'm currently contracting in Ireland. I'm set up as a director of a Ltd company and have contracted here for the last 3 years.
I'm now planning on working in Sweden for 6-12 months. I'm not sure about the implications for tax when working abroad. Do I have to pay tax in Ireland on income earned abroad? Do I have to pay local tax?

In an email from the recruiter I was speaking to he said "Agreed Rate: X00Euro/Day (This is an all inclusive rate for the contract role. There would be no additional payment made by us for any statutory deductions, taxes, holidays and benefits for which you will have to bear your own expenses.)".

In Ireland I would tend to invoice the client for the rate and then add VAT. Does his statement above imply that VAT (or the Swedish equivalent) is included in the rate?

Has anyone had any experience in this area? All help here appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Jimmy

It means that you will be employed by the agency and all deductions will be made from this rate - including employer side obligations, with the remainder begin paid over to you. That is the usual way they work.

Most likely you will find that this is the only way an agent will be willing to work with you.
