Replacement logbook

    I have lost my log book (or is it a reg cert...? 2012 car) and I need to get a replacement ASAP.

    Am I at the mercy of postage and admin tasks or can I go to the local tax office and get it done onsite (while I wait/queue for a few hours to do so).

    If I can go to a tax office, does it have to be my local tax office (wicklow I guess) or do I have to go into Dublin (was told the one near smithfields)

    (I have got the document signed in the Garda station)

    Any ideas?

    From recollection;
    Pick up the relevant form in your motor tax office.
    Bring it to your local Garda station and fill out the declaration section. Get him to stamp it.
    Go back to your local office and submit form and pay fee. I think it was €12 when I lost mine.
    New form gets sent out from Shannon then.

    I did it by post recently and it took about two weeks. After a week, you'll get a small thrill when you get post from the tax office but it's shortlived, they just send out a receipt first and the replacement form a few days later.
