    Hi,

Washing machine has kicked it again. I've been told that it's due to low pressure feeding the system. This makes sense as the thing would take a long time to begin the cycle. The cold water tank is only 2m above ground level so not surprised there isn't much pressure!

I was thinking if I could split the cold water feed to the sink, which is at mains pressure, then this would sort out my pressure problem. Can this be done with a simple tee junction so the mains feed would split and feed the kitchen sink and washing machine? Or is there any major problem with this system I'm missing?

    Thanks

You can do this. Technically it doesn't comply with building regs but 99 % of houses in Ireland don't technically comply with the water regulations

Thanks - this might solve a major problem for me as no washing machine manufacturer seems to produce a washing machine that take a low supply.

I was previously recommended the Zanussi ZWD71460NW for low pressure but the manual noted that "the operating water pressure at the water entry point from the outlet connection must be between 0.5 bar (0.05 MPa) and 8 bar (0.8 MPa)". For 0.5 bar, I'd need to have the cold water tank 5m above the floor which wasn't really a solution in an apartment.

as most washing machines now only have a cold supply its even easier

my cold feed supply is connected to the mains and has never caused an issue
