Well, Google has just released the latest Android P dev release as they have been doing for a while now.

Android Police are writing some good articles here:
    https://www.androidpolice.com/tags/series_android_p_feature_spotlights/

Main things so far seem to be native support for phone 'notches' (why is this a thing..), a UI redesign (kind of like it kind of don't), Some security updates etc.

Will be installing it on my Pixel 2XL in the coming few days / the next beta as they are usually more stable.

Whats everybody else think of it?

(Please no 'I have a samsung so won't get it for ages' or 'I dont even have oreo!' posts please. Just keep it at discussing Android P or if you have tested it on a Pixel device then please share! :) )

    (why is this a thing..)

The crews in Shenzen copy anything Apple do within 48hrs usually. Red phones were the last trend, notches are the latest.

Really Android is becoming a mature OS at this point, changes from rev to rev are getting smaller as they should so there's not nearly as much excitement anymore.

Any idea when it hits the Beta program?

Not until sometime in May when the DP2 is out sadly. You can install the factory images/flash the ota.package though if you can't wait!

And yes it did, it's a more bearable notch though then the ones on the latest phones coming out.

Android P is blocking OMS (overlay manager service).
Substratum theme engine won't work on it as a result!

Pity, I was just getting into these themes :)

I had just purchased the Andromeda app and all after using substratum on some custom Roms. Hope they reverse it.

Few days late in answering, sorry.
But yes, there is a petition from team substratum to Google.
I don't know how these things normally pan out, but here's hoping :)

Nope have to flash it manually as of now. Only app I have seen not working so far is my AIB Mobile Banking app, google pay etc works (since i relocked the bootloader). Camera seems ok, and will be testing out the battery on a road trip tomorrow. If its anything better then the latest O updates ill be impressed. New animations are pretty sweet. You have to swipe down twice now on the notification shade to get the quick access to the settings menu, and no more little small menus in the quick settings either, which isn't the best.
