A lot of front downstairs windows are set high in the wall - obscuring the view to outside. If I want to keep the window width, but elongate down towards the ground, is planning required?

If planning not required, at what point would a captive mullion double casement window ( clear ope when both casements are opened) be considered a door. In other words, how low can you go before a window becomes a door

    :)

    Planning required.

IMO a window becomes a door when it complies with TGD M 2010 disabled access

Don't forget Toughened glass below 800mm too.
    TGD K.

But yeah, Planning required as its an elevational change IMO.
