Gathering parts v saving up

As a noob to PC building and also, due to the current price of GPUs, I am wondering what is the norm for buying components?

Do people normally buy bits over a number of weeks/months, or do you save up and buy everything in one go?

I would say one go is almost always going to be better. While you're waiting for essential parts, your parts are more than likely sitting and depreciating (though not always) in value.

    Buy in 1 go.
You don't want to wait a month for your GPU only to find out the RAM is bad.

Warranty too. The parts you buy in dribs and drabs are having their warranty period run down without ever being used.

Follow on question would be, is it best to order from one source or are there different sites that are typically better for different parts? I checked the list in the FAQs but it seems fairly old.

Generally, buy from 3 sources max ; and get your case from Amazon for the free shipping.
