as I've heard on radio news that water in Dublin will have a lower pressure between 7pm and 7am would you explain why, ffs,  there was no supply at all in D7 this morning (at least till 7.40am when I've left for work), please? Another thing, there was no public announcement by IW in regard to water cuts which is unacceptable ... its a bad joke like all this quango called Irish Water...yis are useless

I don't like IW. But in fairness this was all over news and they did say some people might be cut off entirely.

...Homes will have storage in their attic tanks and businesses should also have storage on site. On high ground and on the extremities of the network, people may experience some outages....

tbh not everyones watching news :) anyways, can understand lowering pressure but cutting completely off? cant see any valid reason as there was no minus 20 during the storm and BS like explanations that pipes were blown just makes me laugh...its 21st century ffs

If you don't watch the news media in any format, then no message they put out is ever going to reach you is it.

You are not cut off, your pressure is low and can't get to your location. There is a difference.

The weather doesn't know its the 21st century.

If you don't follow current events then you probably missed a few years of people explaining why our water network needs replacing.

i'm living on 1st floor so pressure doesn't matter tbh and personally cant understand how a little snow can affect whole city, guess its another IW stunt and reason to pay themselves huge performance bonuses once 'full flow restored'
anyways, as I've said not everyones watching news or looking for info online (e.g. elderly folks) so IW should've send reps with printed flyers to every affected area... they were able to sent out 'contracts' to everyone in no time so cant see the difference :)

A lot of the shortages are due to people leaving the taps running and filling their baths in case their pipes froze. Also how quickly, after the entire country was shut down and a lot of roads impassable, do you expect them to find a printer and enough staff and vehicles to deliver said leaflets in time for people who don't use the Internet, listen to the radio, watch TV or read newspapers?

Water Pressure matters to every one. That's you get water to go up against gravity.

Not sure there's any point explaining how snow works. You have to understand how water works first. Since snow is water.
It was all explained in the media. You should check it out.

I'd be surprised if anyone watches/listens or reads the news more than elderly people. They seem glued to it.

There is an irony to using social media (this forum) to point out not everyone is on social media. Just saying.

Theres lots wrong with IW. You can hardly blame them for snow though.
