Using Husband's Proof of Income for Naturalisation

I'm applying for naturalisation through marriage and need to submit tax forms. For two of the years, I was self-employed and didn't make enough profit to need to do a tax form (I confirmed this with the tax office).

Since my income was so low, I was essentially relying on my husband's income during those years. He makes a decent wage and we've never received benefits.

I asked the immigration office what to do since I don't have tax forms and they said to just submit a letter explaining my situation (which is what they've said in response to a few questions I've had).

I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if it hurts the application to not be self-sufficient?

My income is close to the minimum filing requirements so I've considered reducing my amount of tax write-offs just to get a tax form back. That means paying extra taxes though, so not sure if that's a crazy idea
