    Hi

Myself and my other half are looking at 10 days in the dominican republic in November. It is our first long haul holiday and are both clueless! What are other peoples experiences of Punta Cana and would they reccomend it? We are looking to do AI in a nice hotel has anyone anyone any suggestions? Is it better to book through travel agents or book direct?

    Thanks

    Hi,

It's been a while since we were there. We went all inclusive in 2013 and stayed in the grand occidental resort. We really loved it.

The beaches are beautiful and there are plenty of excursions too. We did a sea walk and swimming with nurse sharks.

The hot reps try to give you the hard sell for some loyalty scheme they run but I'd imagine a lot of the hotels do the same.
We went through falcon (now tuí i think?).

In November you'll see some rain. It cones down very heavy but suns back out as soon as the rain stops and it never lasts long.

For all inclusive just make sure you know how many restaurant meals are included in the 10 days. They usually have themes restaurants but you can't eat in them every night.

    Have a great time!

We stayed in dreams punta Cana, hands down the best AI we've done, there's no limitations in dining or bar service.

We only went for 7 nights so didn't do a huge ammount if excursions, did the zip lining and booked through the hotel.

We stayed in Bahia Principe Ambar Green last year and it was hands down the best AI we were ever at. Booked through TUI, the UK site, and got a pretty good deal flying from Manchester. Weather was great, beaches amazing, service fantastic. Plenty of excursions to keep you busy too. Go for it!!

Sorry for dragging up an old thread...
Can I ask how you booked through the TUI UK website? When you go through the booking process, it doesn't have a field for the country and it also doesn't recognise Irish postcodes.

    Hello there,

We used our parcel motel address in case any documents were posted, there weren't any though, its all via email!

The phone number was more awkward and took a while to get right. Turns out your mobile number plus an extra digit will work. (So eg 085 12345677) They don't contact you by phone.

We did the same thing this year, went to Mexico via Manchester, through TUI UK.

All very smooth and hassle free.

Enjoy your holidays! The Dominican is a brilliant choice, and your hotel is very very good too.
