I am choosing windows and doors for my new build and am looking for any opinions or info on any or all of the following.... Munster Joinery, Rationel, Oknoplast, Carlson

We are (probably) going for Aluclad Triple Glazed, lots of big windows incl 6m sliders and are planning for fairly air-tight A2 (at worst) finish with A2W heating with underfloor heating and HR.

All replies by PM please not to incur wrath of mods.

Have you read what has been written here re Aluclad in this damp climate?
Have you read what has been written here about the longterm issues with such heavy sliders?

Have you data on this? I have seen in the past, and can only find this now, that our perception is Ireland gets a lot of rain, the reality is we get the same as most northern european countries.

    People often think rainfall, (wrong)

    Humidity is key.

Whatever humidity maybe "key" to it's certainly nothing with regard to modern 'Sandinavian' timber (or alu-clad timber windows) that are of a drained & ventilated design.

Rain and it's interaction with the framing components most definitely can be a significant problem. This is when good design becomes important.
