Imported motorcycle, no reg cert yet

    Hi all....

There's a fair chance I might have missed something so though this would be the best place to ask.

Once a vehicle has been imported, VRT paid and new registration number received, should I automatically receive the reg cert or is there something else I have to do?

I imported a motorcycle in January, did the VRT inspection followed by VRT payment towards the end of the month. I received the reg number and have the plate printed and mounted. No sign of the reg cert and it was 5 weeks ago.

    Anything I'm missing?

    Road tax?

So do I need to go into the tax office with my stuff from the VRT office then?

    That would actually make sense.....

You just need to tax it. Can you tax a bike online?

    Yes.
OP in the documents you got from the VRT centre they would have pointed out to you on one of them your online PIN number for registering the vehicle online. Once you tax the bike the logbook will be sent out to you.

They won't issue a Cert until it's taxed fir the first time.

The PIN number you need to do that online is usually the last 6 digits of the VIN .

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

IIRC that's only for new vehicles. You can request a PIN from the motor tax website and then tax the bike.

    Tried that and no joy.....

    Thanks for all the replies!

Edit: all sorted now. It took the last 6 digits of the VIN where it didn’t a few weeks ago.
