Anyone have an office on the farm, I have a loft over the dairy I was thinking of converting for paperwork, kettle, wifi etc. Sick of running into house for cards, checkbook, permits

I have seen a couple of farms with designated office spaces and all are used for storage I.e what you don't really need.

Was going to do the same but it needs to be be dry so would need heating, stuff can get damp easy out side.

Helped the uncle convert an out house that was part of the house, turned it to a boot room and office nice a warm but able to get and out of the farm without going into the house

Have one here Kev...double ply lined with insulation in between, double glazed window out through the gable end cladding. Its over the dairy. Door has a keypad lock instead of a key lock which would be messy.

Never damp, and never had a four legged visitor since 2003... Keep an oil filled electric heater on very low heat under the desk during very wet/cold periods and very simple to turn up when you are sitting in for a while.

Great to be able to run in and print off movement certs etc without having to tease through the house..

Only fall down is, postman comes at 8.00am and we bring the post into the house at breakfast time. Fall down in communication then with paperwork that should go directly to the office...but that's a management fault..

I have to put all post at a height here, buttons have been removed from laptop and screws stuck in the printer! I'd prefer to have it separate from house with my little two legged friends creating havoc in the house. Over the dairy is what I'm thinking too also, just wondering could u have a stairway in the dairy bord bia?

I bought a large garden shed before Xmas and use it as a farm office and tool shed. I made a partition internally and insulated the office part. I have an electric heater which can raise the temperature inside by 20 degrees. Lovely in the recent weather. Great to be able to pop into a heated environment and have a cup of tea and do the paperwork. Although the house is 2KM from the farm so the shed was kind of necessary.

How much you don't mind me asking?

It was about 3K for the shed 20ft x 10ft with a 4 ft veranda. Box profile roof. Then about 1K for the insulation and fit out. I stayed overnight a couple of times during the bad weather so was well worth it.
