What is this wire for coming out of a socket?

    This is in an old out building. Socket needs replacing due to water damage. But wondering what that cable coming out of the socket is for (see attached). Is it an earth?

    Don't worry, this won't be a DIY job. Will get electrician to replace.

    It looks like jack chain just wrapped around the socket. It has no electrical function.

    If you look closely, there is a white power lead coming out of the socket on the right side. Let me try get a better picture.

    That’s just the nymj cable that’s feeding the 15amp socket on rhs
