Hey guys. Looking to build a video editing pc for editing YouTube Videos on premiere pro cc. I’ve been using the home computer here for a while and the lag while using premiere pro is insane.. also the rendering times are awful. Took 12 hours the other day just to render and export a video that’s 4 mins long at 1080p with just a handful of effects applied..

Also side note - would love to get all the stuff off amazon but it’s not a deal breaker if not.. would also be interested in a laptop either so if ye can reccommend those too that’d be great.

    So here’s my list:
    1. What is your budget? as low as possible 500 or less
    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Video editing with a small bit of light gaming (gta v etc) single monitor usage.
    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? no can get it online.
    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No - starting from scratch.
    5. Do you need a monitor? not a priority at this time but could use a cheap alternate in the future (may go secondhand for these kinds of things.
    6. Do you need any of the peripherals? same as above, bog standard mouse and k/b nothing fancy. Maybe speakers if they're dirt cheap.
    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No
    8. How can you pay?Debit card
    9. When are you purchasing? over the course of the next few weeks really.

    Thanks in advance guys.

500 doesnt get you a huge amount for video work. I'd be looking for bargains on 2nd hand/refurb gear perhaps.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Just don’t have the extra cash to spare at the minute. Would you reccommend a laptop that would do the same job around the same budget?

You will get worse performance from a laptop for the same price. What is the spec of your current home computer?

Not a clue. It’s an emachine pc that my dad bought about 6 years ago and it’s gone to crap. What information are you looking exactly? I could go check it out if you gave me some guidelines. Possibly I could upgrade some of its components?

Either build a Ryzen 2200G / 2400G system, or look at used parts (e.g. Intel Xeon, i5/i7).
TechYesCity is one of the best youtubers for learning more about these parts.

What kind of video? Editing 1080p 60mbit in h.264 is much less taxing than a 4K 100mbit video in H.265 for example and you could get away with lower spec.

Like Reati asked, it all depends exactly what You need, or more precisely with what material You plan to work?
A laptop for 500€ could be okish but it would limit the future upgrade. Even some basic desktop, in my opinion, would be much better.
    Something like this https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/wYc8dX
It's not perfect, probably people with better knowledge of current market can adjust it but can show You what You can get for Your money.
The new generation of AMD Ryzen will still use AM4 socket so the future upgrade can be easy and not too expensive.

Probably pretty weak when it was purchased (eMachines were a bit....eugh) so by now you're talking very very low power. Anything you get will be better - but may as well maximize performance.

Do Ryzen APUs(iGPUs if you like) give reasonable CUDA support? Ideally the OP could utilize that acceleration in Mercury.

500 is loads considering what you're coming from.

You can easily get a 2nd hand workstation with a hex core CPU and 16GB ram for way less than that on Ebay.

EG - six core, 32GB ram, SSD, etc for about €485 delivered to you.

And you can go cheaper, less than €300 would bag you an i7-3770 16GB ram based Dell/HP/similar and that is still very powerful by 2018 standards.

Thanks for the tips. Just wondering what people’s opinions would be of this guide? I’m still learning about pc components pretty fascinated about them. I’ll link it here: https://turbofuture.com/computers/Build-Photo-Editing-PC
