Frogspawn and snow.

Hi, I have a pond where frogs return each year. A few weeks ago there was a large amount of frogspawn in it. It is now completely covered in snow. I have cleared the snow to the waterline, but the remainder is slush. Will this affect the frogspawn? Is there any more I can do to help the froggies along?

    Moved from Animals + Pets.
Please note a new charter now applies.

Frogs will be grand. Snow is a great insulator, for a start.

I would have left the snow, as it acts as an insulator, but the thaw is well under way now. It all depends on how cold the spawn was and for how long.

The spawn would have been buried on Thursday night. About 30cm cover and the whole pond now seems to be slush.

Since it has been laid, the spawn has been under ice a few times.

    Just an update.

After the snow had completely cleared, the frogs came back and laid a load of new spawn. They seem to think the old stuff is damaged. Some of the old stuff has lost it's "dots". Just empty jelly left.

They would be different frogs spawning.

Well, I can't say I recognised any of them. :D
