Eco drive

Have a question on citizen eco drive watches.

Have 4 in total and just noticed that 2 were only moving the second hand every 2 seconds which indicates charge is low but the date never changed..
Can some one confirm that the power is used to keep correct and the date won't change unless well charged?

Think I read that some where!

    Thanks

My eco drive does change date when in 'low power' mode. But it is a very old one, bought in 1997.

Yep, mine also changes the date in low power mode. Surely it has no choice in the matter, given how I think these movements work!

Most eco-drive watches i've owned continue to advance the day/date while in low-charge indicator mode.

However due to the number of models and movements over the years, it's possible that some don't. Find your movement and look up the manual online.

Note that power save mode and low-charge indicator mode are not the same. Second hand jumping in 2s increments is low-charge indicator.

They use lithium cells so most of the typical caveats apply. It's a bad idea to let the battery run low regularly. Deep discharge is harsh on the battery and will shorten it's lifespan. If the cell voltage drops too low the battery will usually become useless.
