Are these phones generally compatible with Irish networks?

No earthly idea. Need a phone and those sim free jobbies look like better value and spec than something I'd buy in Carphone
    Warehouse.

Something around the 150 Euro mark would suffice if anyone has any pointers.

If you are buying something you have heard of, then most likely yes is the answer. I've bought two from amazon, one from .fr and the other from the .de site. Only difference is the pack having an EU plug rather than a three pin. For anything you're unsure of, search for it in GSM arena and check that it can access the 4g bands that are available in Ireland. These vary by network, but again, your mobile network will have this information available somewhere.

I bought through Amazon before Christmas but it was only fulfilled by Amazon. There is now an issue with the phone and after contacting the seller they asked if I'd get it fixed locally and they'd refund the money. It's something to note as generally Amazon customer services are spot on but the seller may have different terms.

Yeah, was looking at a Huawei P8. £130 compared to 160 in Carphone Warehouse, so much the same.
Nice to have it sim free though. The warranty however is an issue in fairness.

Direct from Amazon, or an Amazon Warehouse Deal is the way to go. I had a Sony Xperia ZL that Sony Ireland wouldnt repair as they didnt sell the model in Ireland (no parts), got onto Amazon.de full refund after 6-7 months of use.
