Try turning on full ignition (without cranking) for 10 seconds and off again. Repeat this 5 or 6 times before actually cranking.

This will do two things, run the fuel pump and the glow plugs. Both will help massively with starting issues. If it starts fine, one of those is your issue.

What year is your Mondeo - it may not have an in-tank fuel pump.
Have a look at this re changing the fuel filter - the gasket being in the wrong place can cause big problem.

Also carefully check the pipes going on to the filter housing , and the housing itself , for cracks .

Put your foot on the clutch starting it... see if that helps.
(If it does it will be your flywheel)

im wondering might it be the starter, i took a reading this morning when the car cranks the battery voltage went as low as 9.3volts ,would this make the car stall or is this normal for diesel engines ???

    Hello,

9.3 volts is way to low to start a diesel engine. You will need a minimum of 11.8 volts. You will need to recharge the battery.

I listened to your video and the terrible vibration sound that you are hearing when cranking the engine sounds like the dual mass flywheel is gone!

Try putting your foot on the clutch when starting the engine and see if that helps.

I think it’s either of two problems.

Glow plugs are faulty, have seen it on fords before.
    Or
Battery isn’t holding a charge in frosty weather as it’s dead, frost really shows up a poor battery.
