    Heading to amsterdam this Thursday.

It’s up around 7euro for a pint I hear so looking for anyone with knowledge of decent money saving tips on buying drink. Cheaper decent pubs basically?

And also looking for recommendations of the best clubs to visit in the centre..would it worth emailing a few clubs ahead saying we have 10 guys and could you put us on the guest list and keep us a table?

The further away from dam square, the cheaper it gets. 7 is toward the top end, you'll normally pay around the 5 euro mark in my experience.

Sometimes you have to balance out the increased price v the experience. You might save 8 x 2 euro by going to a bar further out, but will you get the same buzz / experience? Maybe, but maybe not.

The one place I remember when I was last there being very reasonably priced very central in the red light district was a place called Hill Street Blues which is like a dive blues/rock bar (think Cassidys on Westmoreland st in Dublin, similar decor/style). I think I remember they had pints of whatever was on special/local for about €3, maybe €3.50. They also let you smoke anywhere in the bar as opposed to in special smoking sections like most bars in Amsterdam. Decent spot to start off in for cheap pints and you're not far from the rest of the nightlife.
