We have woken up this morning with no power at all
Our neighbors all seem to have power and street lighting on
The power comes into the house underground
The question is do I call Electric Ireland networks or an electrician
We are in Cabinteely Dublin 18 but imagine if it is Electric Ireland we would be very low priority

Esb networks,, assuming you have checked your own fuse board and everything looks okay

Sounds like you tripped a fuse. Turn off and plug out non essential electric items go to the fuse box and check the switches. If one looks out of place turn it back. Might do the trick. If not ring it in to esb networks but be aware that because you are an isolated incident it could take some time.

An electrician first if all switches at the main board are still switched on. The electrician will narrow the fault down to an internal fault in the house or will be able to say you need esb networks.

How old is your house. On newer installations there is a main switch in the Esb meter cabinet.check that it is up also

Not a good idea to have a mains cut off switch installedin outside the dwelling.
It could pose a security risk, imho.

It's an MCB intended to protect the ESB fuse. Unfortunately it isn't optional if tails exceed 3 metres. I prefer switch fuses from the point of view of achieving discrimination (selectivity) - something which MCBs in series (regardless of rating) will not provide where it comes to fault protection.
