Common amongst small WISPs, not illegal but a little amateur. Usually means they're limiting you locally instead of at the high site.

    thanks for reply..
So if i ask them to remove or give me the password should they or can they refuse to do so? like its my router so why would they do that without even asking?

You could just factory reset the router.

But make sure, you have the credentials to set it back up and be able to connect to the broadband.

Depending on how they set you up on the connection, you could be getting your connection via PPPoE (need username password), DHCP (should be automatic) or fixed IP (need ip address).

I wish i could do that but i have no idea of how to find out the credentials without actually getting into the router...

Well. I would ring them and get them to give you the credentials. Clearly it was a mistake.

Im not sure was it a mistake as they seem to have control over all the routers from wherever they are, they changed neighbours wifi password without being anywhere near the box...

    Every ISP has that ability.

192.168.1.1 could well be the mast device at the WISP site if thats not your local wireless/router

192.168.1.1 is the ip for my router

No point in continually asking here, we don't know their policy. Tiny ISP in one of the least populated areas of the country the chances of there being somebody who's dealt with them here is small.

Just reset the unit if its yours.
