Job and JobPath

    Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can answer this for me. I completed Tus programme about three weeks ago and went back on jobseekers. I knew there was a job coming up in the place I had worked with since December. This job has become available this week and I will be meeting with HR (After the weather warnings are lifted) to discuss same. There is a part time one that I'm not particularly interested in but would take if needs be until something more permanent came up (probably elsewhere) also a full time that I'm more than interested in. However, I received a jobpath letter last week saying I've to attend a meeting on Tuesday. As nothing has been confirmed with the job, I don't know what to do. I don't really want to go to the meeting as I'm 99.9% sure the job will be given to me. I also don't want to inform them (jobpath) of the job details as I don't want to be hounded. Any ideas on what to do?

Could you not reschedule the meeting for another day?

I'm hoping the job offer will be confirmed on Monday but the start date could be the following week. I'm more concerned with how I get out of doing Jobpath without giving them any details of the new job. No problem going in to Jobpath on the Tuesday if I haven't already started work but would rather not go on their books.

Just sign off JSA as you will be doing anyway if you are starting work.

I won't be until I start work, that may be after jobpath meeting, as explained.

If your offered a job on Monday, to start the following Monday, then ignore the JobPath letter and sign off next Friday.
Why would you be wasting your time and theirs by going to the JobPath meeting if your not having trouble finding a job?

You don't sign off until you have clear confirmation of start date and until your start date. I don't want wasting my time, which is why I'm asking others with experience of same to inform me of what they did. I am required to attend the meeting or my payment will be stopped. I'm not having trouble finding a job, which is why I don't understand why they are calling me. I finished the placement 2 weeks ago and have been waiting on a start date for a job for those two weeks.

So again, anyone with experience with same e.g JobPath meeting with a job starting, what did you do? Did you attend the JobPath meeting? did you contact them? did you inform them of the job etc?

    Thanks

Call Jobpath and ask them to reschedule your meeting with them due to "Urgent family business".

When you start work, sign off from JSA and block the jobpath number on your phone and ignore any letters from them.

Hi what I done was, tell the jobpath crowd you have no phone and no email...then when I went back to my job I signed off online on mygov website..never heard another word..

Thanks for your comment. Did they take that as acceptable? Did they push for an email or phone number?

Thanks for your comment. I have been considering this, just didn't know what way to work around it.

They had no choice but to accept it.
The did ask me how could I be contacted and I told them I had a functional post box
I gave them very scant information about my employment history and brought in a hand written CV.. haven't heard a word since.

Contact them, they're reasonable ppl,as long as you haven't taken the piss prior to this

    As above^^ .
If youve attended other meetings/whatever then asking for a merting to be rescheduled wouldn't be an issue.
Dont burn your bridges with them. While there is an opening where you've been its not absolutely a guarantee that they would offer it to you.
Im not being nasty or cruel just practical.
