After all my preparation,my gas bottle is frozen, nearly full bottle as well. Its a gas bottle Flo Gas for Hob inside. A work mate said that it most be frozen Any ideas what can be done. Wrapped a jacket around it ,but nothing else i can think of, never happened before ( obviously in West Cork its never cold enough) and never knew it could happen. Had a quick look on google but nothing helpful.
Can you defrost it with a say a hairdryer . and would it be safe,or am i doomed to have nothing to cook on and have to make a dash for a camping stove tomorrow morning and have the bottle inside. Or maybe that might be the answer maybe get another bottle tomorrow and store it in the garage and connect it up when i need it. Or would the frozen one unfreeze if i moved it into the garage. Thanks all

My parents usually pour a few kettles of boiling water over the top and it does the job. (Maybe google to make sure it’s safe).

Disconnect the frozen one and bring it in to a heated part of the house.
    Should be ok tomorrow.

You have butane gas which at temperatures roughly below 5°C will stop vapourising, you need to heat the bottle up to a temperature over 5 deg to get the gas to vapourise and burn.
Bring the bottle inside for the night and it should get to over 5°C and be fine in the morning, you may find the regulator can be a bit sticky and a kettle of hot water poured over it outside should help thaw it.
Propane gas doesn't suffer from the same problem until about -43°C.

Boil the kettle. Works like a charm!

Pour hot but not boiling water all over the cylinder and pipe. It worked for me anyway.

Thanks a million for the answers. As it never happened before ,and I never even thought it could happen I was a little unsure If the bottle would still be safe to use. Panic over.
