Smart keys: re-programmable?

I can't find my 2nd set of car keys. I have absolutely no idea where they could be - I only bought the damn car last week in the UK. I have called all the places I stopped and nothing. Besides they're smart keys so I wasn't taking anything out of my pockets in any event.
The only thing I can think of is that I left it down in the garage and as they probably just saw it as a Toyota key, with no other identifiable information and could reprogramme it or what have you.
I did ask the sales guy who said he didn't see it but it was a huge place. He's not responsible for the rest of his colleagues.

Smart keys cannot be reprogrammed once paired to a car.

Ok cool. If you find one, is there a way to check what car it belongs to if you have the diagnostic equipment?

No, it wouldn’t work like that. A dealer can delete the pairing from the car end though.

Feck it anyway. I am so peed off about it.
I suppose those smart keys are 300+

Look on the bright side, when you buy a new one, the old one will turn up :)

See if you can find a place that can clone the one key you have, that will be a lot cheaper than ordering a blank and getting an official dealer to program it. I did that in about 2000 with a Fiat key at a place behind Trinity but it's no longer there.

There's a place in newlands cross that did what Coyle was suggesting, but the site seems to be up to let now. So unsure if they are still trading.

I can confirm that a 2010-13 shape Qashqai with smart keys, that a used key cannot be programmed into the car, even via a main dealer, tried 3x used keys too. The key has to be a virgin before bring programmed. Toyota might use the same type of technology.

New key was just €200 via main dealer in the end.
