Laptop Battery Q

    Quick question please

Battery in my Samsung laptop (4 years old) charges when unit switched off. When I switch on and start using....battery drops very fast and even though connected to power doesn't seem to charge (even though plug-icon shows). Lasts maybe 40 mins.

Is this an obvious case of needing a new battery ?. I suspect so...just wanted another opinion given the symptoms.

    Thanks,
    K

sounds like the battery, especially given the age of the laptop.

to make sure restart your computer and go into the BIOS

usually you can do this by pressing F2 just as it's restarting

in one of the bios menus it should tell you the battery status - e.g if it's working properly

if you're looking to get a replacement battery don't buy a cheap ebay one. it will last a month probably

https://www.duracelldirect.ie/ may have a battery for your laptop. else try to get an original one but make sure it's not old as batteries degrade
