A lot of mixed posts on Facebook. Are you insured to drive in a red weather warning?

    Hi Jonny_b

If your policy is with us you are insured to drive. We recommend you don't travel unless absolutely necessary. Driving in heavy snow and ice can be extremely dangerous so we recommend you don't travel unless you really have to. If you do have to drive, please consider the following tips: https://www.libertyinsurance.ie/blog/winter-driving/

I wish Facebook was as efficient at spreading useful information and facts. Clear the snow off your car, for example. Or, slow down gradually. Turn your lights on.

    That sort of stuff...

I've heard AA roadwatch cover this on two separate occasions. They say that you are definitely covered for necessary journeys but you might not be covered if you venture out just to be out in a storm.

The Government has asked everyone to stay indoors tomorrow between 4pm and 10am Friday. You might not be covered if you drive up the mountains at 6am just to go skiing in the middle of the storm
