So, what does everyone reckon is best wintery/snowy level or game out there?

On the N64 alone we got these great ones

    Cool Cool Mountain in SM64

The Hoth level in Shadow of the Empire

    1080 Snowboarding?

Snowflake Mountain in Diddy Kong Racing?

What games and on what systems are your favourites?

Gex 3 on ps1 for me. Probably not the best game ever in the grand scheme of things but I was addicted to it as a youngling.
First level was the snow level and it just seemed so massive at the time, with all these hidden nooks and crannys to be discovered

Metal Slug, Stage 3. Always quite liked the snowy visuals in that one.

You do know that Ireland isn't just Dublin. No snow here in Sligo.

I'm quite partial to the snow level from Sonic 3 just for that music.

Have to add that the Hoth level as well as the whole of Shadows of the Empire was and is hot garbage.

Horace goes Skiing for ultra realistic snow effects.

Off topic, a modern game Uncharted 2 has a great snow level.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

It does indeed, played through it over the Christmas just gone. Brilliant game, if not a tad shallow :o The Last of Us has a beautiful snow section also (only seen the remastered version)

I played that through on the PS3 and the snow level where you play as Ellie was amazing, not to mention the story sequence that followed.

I remember freezing my ass off a lot in Breath of the Wild. Not really a level, as such.

If I shove a few chillis in my mouth now, I should be grand to stroll to the shops in my normal clothes, right?

(Cool cool mountain, for me by the way. That one screenshot has me replanning the rest of the day)

It's when Skyrim hits the Casino Zone that it really takes off

Legit my first thought when seeing the title. Still listen to it occasionally when studying and whatnot.

The second was Winters from Earthbound. It's got a random Stonehenge and that distorted circus music to put you on the edge the whole way.

Seems they remixed that levels soundtrack

Most of Batman Returns on the SNES is a wintery wonderland of punches, kicks and setting clowns on fire.

Big shout out to Icicle Inn, a wonderful location in Final Fantasy 7, chock full of game lore and home of the godawful snowboarding mini game
