    Hi all,
I got a date for the driving test and now looking around for the best price. All of the driving schools are very expensive charging 100 euro for 1 hour!! If a family member with a full license rents a car for the test, will I be able to legally drive under their supervision and will I be allowed to do the test?
    Thanks in advance!

Who are they renting the car off?
Any rental company won’t let you drive their vehicle without a full license.

No .. as a condition of renting a car you need a license. You only have a learners permit so won’t be allowed drive the rental car.

Not a chance. The legitimate rental companies will require you to have a full clean driving license for at least 1 year. A learner permit which is all you have will be laughed at. Supervised or not.

Provided your relative adds your to their insurance it should be okay. But this may cost quite a bit too... The 100 for the instructors car isn't a bad deal tbh.

It’s not €100 for an hr, it’s closer to 2 hrs in all honesty. By the time you do a lesson before the test, sit the test and we give you feedback there’s the 2hrs gone.
Our insurance excess is higher when the pupil is driving and given we aren’t in the car during your test there’s a small premium on top of the 2hrs. It’s really not that expensive compared to full insurance.
