Lucht vs Fahro vs EcoVolt vs Storage

I'm looking at an apartment with old storage radiators throughout. We would be at work during the day 5 days a week, and would spend most of our time at home in the living room where we would need several hours of heating every day.

I'm thinking of replacing the storage heaters in the bedrooms with Ecovolt, Lucht type radiators as they only need heat for an hour or two a day & storage rads sound wasteful. Does this sound sensible?

I don't know what to do in the Living Room & Hall - should I invest in newer storage radiators, and would they keep the heat until evening when it can be released? Or would I be better off again going with the non-storage heaters? Or even mix the two?

And any major differences between the various types such as Lucht etc other than control systems? Ideally we would be able to turn the radiators on and off manually without faffing around with timers, a smartphone app or something would be ideal so we don't have to get out of bed :)

I would not do this. These types of radiators are no more efficient than a plug-in electric heater.

Is there any way to install an air-to-air heat pump? (Which is basically like an air conditioner.) Ideally this would go on a balcony, but it might be possible to hang it off the building. This is a good bit more efficient.

Unfortunately not, management company rules wouldn't allow it.

    no balcony?
Yes, but not allowed - in time I can try and get the rules changed.

Would I be as well off to get a few oil/oil free rads and hook them up to smart switches?

Sure and leave the storage heaters there?

You can also get a wall hung heater.

Do you know for sure whether the apartment is really cold? How many exposed sides does it have?
