Sony XZ2 Compact

As someone who cannot cope with big phones I was really looking forward to the Sony XZ2 Compact. Unfortunately I am disappointed:

    https://www.sonymobile.com/gb/products/phones/xperia-xz2-compact/

Extremely thick at 12.1mm (previous compact was 9.3mm). I don't really care that it curves out from 7mm to 12.1mm as it is still 12.1mm at its thickest point. Therefore a major bulge in your pocket.

It is not even close to a bezelless design despite what they say. However the screen is a welcome upgrade.

For such a thick phone the battery is on the low side at 2870mAh. The only excuse for thickness is a massive battery. I was expecting 3300mAh in this phone on par with the new Sony XA2.

No wireless charging, again no excuse for this in a phone this thick.

No 3.5in headphone jack which to be honest is a joke. The new Sony XA2 has a headphone jack and it is a mid-range phone. This is a real deal breaker for me.

This will be a expensive phone at €600 and the only major difference I can see between it and the Sony XA2 is the SOC (snapdragon 845 vs 630) and the storage (64GB vs 32GB). Is this worth an extra €250 and no headphone jack, I don't think so.

Is that a Sony XZ2 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?

You could still get the XZ1 Compact, its a great compact phone i have it since it was announced and it will be cheaper now that the XZ2 compact is coming next month

Cheers this might be an option. Have the Sony Xperia X Compact and love it.

Yeah i was going to get that, but it was a little downgrade over the Z5 Compact.
The XZ1 Compact is a nice upgrade, screen good and sharp and battery is excellent

Still considering this phone too, mainly because Sony are about the only one's left making "flagship" smaller phones, going to wait and see the official pricing etc. before I make my mind up.

The ZX1 compact is €384,47 including delivery to Ireland from Amazon.de

Not bad considering the ZX2 compact will be €600 on launch.

I'm thinking about getting the bigger brother phone as I'm due an upgrade next month. I wonder if the headphone adapter will support digital noise canceling headphones. I still have mine from my old Z2 and they work perfectly.

    This too shall pass.

So, I reached out to the @sonyXperia twitter account with the question about the digital noise cancelling headphones. (Noise cancelling headphones which are powered by the device.
    This is the reply.
Thanks for reaching out to us.

You may view the answer to the above question via the following link: https://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/usb-type-c-2-in-1-cable-ec270/specifications/

    Regards, Gabriel
So, I go to the link and read down. The adapter will work for 4 pin headphones. The Digital Noise cancelling are 5 pin. There is even a note at the bottom to say MDR-NC31EM,MDR-NC750 are not supported.

    This too shall pass.

Sony really need a kick in the ass for removing the headphone jack on this phone.

So in spite of all my ranting, I purchased the phone.

It is excellent, the best phone I have ever had.

The only drawback is, it is a slight bit chunky.

    Sorry for the delay, Amazon.de.

I have been using the phone for well over a month now. The camera is excellent on it.
