I want to purchase a straight length of metal handrail, be it chrome or stainless etc which ever is cheapest to fit myself. Anyone know where to buy this in roi. thanks, something like this maybe or some tubing I could get in a diy shop that would do the job.

Forget about diy shops. Try s/s fabrication co's in the area. Ellickson, Hickey's etc.
tbh, you'd be better off asking them to cap off the ends properly. It would look rubbish without it. No harm asking them for a price inc some rail-to-wall fixings too.
