Rates may have changed of late with the trades been busier, but for scud and scratch coat plaster per m2 of wall was ballpark 18euro per m2, skim coating was ballpark 5euro per m2 of wall/ceiling,

So work out the total square area of walls and ceilings in your house and use the rates above to give you an idea of costs.

The above rates are labour only, no materials.

Other than that there is no better way to find out than getting 3 quotes.

Get 3 quotes and match them off.
Price in Sligo would be much cheaper than price in Kildare.

I'd imagine ball park figure would be 6-7000

Sorry to jump on this. But would the rate be similar for render outside walls. Have four walls outside to be rendered . I'd have assumed it's cheaper.?

this seems very expensive for skimming indoors

i would also assume so, it cost me 4k for the outside but the same guy gave me a quote for 8k for the inside, in my mind hes trying to pull a fast one here

I paid 11000 cash for interior and exterior same size house in 2003, and he wasn't the most expensive quote either.

Dunno if u have slabs up yet, but if not it's a good job to give the blocks a scratch coat first. Fills up a lot of gaps n reduces draughts

Why ask for prices and reply thats very dear?
we arent quoting you, we're telling you what to expect, Btw, its not just skim, there needs to be a scratch coat too, unless your slabbing to which you should have said in the OP.

If your looking for a cheap job, then go pay mickey mouse money for a mickey mouse job!
    Enjoy skirting it after.

The 4 k price could end up been the most expensive
The 11k could be just up to their eyes and giving a price for the sake of it
The 8k sounds about right .
No harm to get detailed quotes from the 8k and 11k to see exactly where the 3k difference is .
And ask around for references from a carpenter that has 2nd fixed after them . Any fool can put plaster on a wall and ceiling it's straightening it that separates the craftsmen from the muc spreaders.

He's not really, its double the work, scud render and skim, plus all the beading around window and door opes, ceilings to be skimmed also.
Just one question, does the price include slabbing.

Knock yourself out but even if you get a shyte job done and refuse to pay your still left with a shyte job and it's only when the carpenter or painter is on site you'll realise it would of been cheaper to get the 8k lad in .
At least get some references from the 4k one usually if it sounds to good to be true we'll you know the rest

Would have to agree, on some jobs after bad plasterers it takes way more time to prepare the walls for skirting board than it takes to cut and fit it

It's not even the skirting it's architrave, door frames, kitchen wall units, stair strings, rad covers, and what most people don't think of is down lights showing up all sorts of shadows on walls .The painters roller only hitting in spots Everyone else's price goes up after a bad plasterer.

I'd definitely pick quality over price. We had a plasterer that was top notch, it shows & you'll be looking at a bad plastering job for a long time, long after you've forgotten the difference in price. Go look at jobs they've each done and decide then.

Ironic, your saying cowboys still out there yet you look to hire the cheapest muck spreader out there.
If you have pride in your house you'll do quality over price. Otherwise just get a cheapo to do it.

I'm out either way, Arguing with an idiot is like playing chess with a pidgeon. It'll just knock over all the pieces, **** on the board, and strut about like it's won anyway.
