It really sounds like its in need of a service. Those sort of irregular symptoms will most likely need an experienced eye cast over it. Is it long ago since it was serviced?

Thank you for your reply no it was serviced 2 weeks ago I was wondering could it be the stat? And at the side of the boiler there is a small amount of water there but it still doesn't drop below 1 bar so I don't know if that could be the problem

With a service 2 weeks ago, I would call back and check it out for free unless it was something not covered by the service. I would be surprised if your service guy wouldn't do the same. Give him a call. 1.5 bar is rarely needed, what does it get to when hot? It could be the stat, but unlikely. Intermittent problems could leave you throwing loads of unnecessary parts at the problem.

What were the reading that he got when testing? He should have left you a printout of them.

Make and model of the boiler might help. If you want to upload a few pics somewhere and PM me the links, I will post them here.

I got no print out of him at all its a local man that does it I gave him a call and he said he was away at the moment and will call in when he returns and see but with this cold weather I'd like to try some myself because can't be anything major I don't think one of the rads came off the wall 2 days ago and my boyfriend replaced the pipe and hung it back up and the system emptied due to that because it's a sealed system and we were kind of thinking now that it's a air bubble in it somewhere.. I put of picks of boiler in a few mins

It will be just pure luck if you come across the cause of the problem. But you could just get lucky. Why was the pump changed? Why were boiler pipes changed? I ask in case it might provide some clue.

I would advise not using anyone who does not give a printout of the combustion results after service.

You need an account with Dropbox or one of the lots of other such sites and then its easy enough to upload. But if you cant manage that, don't worry about it.

When the boiler goes off after 4 hours, how do you get it going..,do you have to press a reset button and if so where..

there shouldnt be any water beside the boiler,so i would say it is linked. Also you have to ensure all air has to be removed after refilling system

sounds like you possibly have air in the system
