There’s probably a reset button inside the flip down panel on the radio itself. I had a similar Sony and it had that, prsss it with a biro

Try cleaning the contacts where the flip down panel meets the radio.

Its a 9 year old stereo, its possibly just done. Contacts dry out over time and crack causing problems.

A whole new radio. You can pick up a new brand name (Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood etc) from Halfords for small money (and even cheaper if you buy online)

This one is €32 and will plug straight into the existing wiring in your car, basically swap old for new. >> pioneer-mvh-190ui

Or spend a bit more and get one with Bluetooth for hands free calling >> sony-dsx-a410bt

    Will do that so,

    Thank you,

The contacts inside the faceplate have likely oxidized. It's a common problem with sony head units. It can sometimes be repaired by taking the faceplate apart and cleaning up all the contacts. Im sure you will find a repair guide on youtube.

If you don't fancy trying the repair route a new head unit can be got cheap these days.

Thinking of getting the Pioneer MVH S300BT, does anyone know if it will fit a 2004 Ford Focus

It should be pretty much a straight swap for the sony. All you'll need to do is remove the sony wiring from the harness adapter and plug the pioneer wiring into the harness adapter. You might also have to replace the cage if the pioneer unit doesn't click in securely to the sony's cage.

Think i'll pay Halfords to do it, I am worse than useless at all that.

    Thanks for the reply.

It's really very easy. You will get keys with the new radio that can be used to remove the old radio. It's plug and play after that . All the wiring you need is in the box and as there is an aftermarket radio fitted already you won't need to buy any adaptors.

Was very easy thanks for the info, can't believe they charge €35.00 for fit them,

No problem :) In your case it wasn't worth paying €35 for less than 5 minutes work but in other cases it can be a bit more difficult and fiddly and can take a little longer. In these cases €35 isn't bad I think.
