I've been looking at 2015 Diesel 2.0l DSG Automatic VW jettas recently.

    Similar to this
    https://www.carsireland.ie/detail.php?ad_id=1939730&r=s.php%3Fm%5B%5D%3D93%26o%5B%5D%3D813%26f%3D2%26t%3D2%26g%3D0

What could people say about them, I've looked at a few and they seem to be a nice car, loads of space and supposedly fuel efficient too 55+ MPG on the Auto DGS 7 speed box. The €190 tax is attractive and I've got a few insurance quotes myself and the rate of insurance would be far lower than what I'm paying on my nearly 20 year old car. I drive Automatics only.

I think they’re grand, they would be considered old hat by some given that they’re not in the current MQB platform, and arguably can be traced back to the Mk5 Golf from 14 years ago. That said, I don’t pay too much atttention to that sort of thing, as a car they’re grand. DSG gearboxes are lovely, the only reservation I would have is that it’s a TDI that would probably have had the emissions fix done

Im nearly sure a '15 Jetta 2.0 wouldn't require the fix.

They are a bit dated in terms of the rest of the VW range but they aren't a bad looking car and as a result of using some of VW's older tech they actually benefit from very good reliability as a result. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to one and the 2.0d DSG would be the pick of the the litter.

The biggest downsides that you probably don't care about are that it has a manual handbrake, full plastic door cards and ACC wasn't an option with them which is a really nice combo with DSG is the rest of the range. A Highline one will still have nice 17" wheels, dual climate, sat nav etc. The Highline interior is actually a lot better overall as the seats are much nicer and the Comfortline has an awful lot of fake wood.

I had a 2l TDI 110bhp comfortline out before while our Yeti was being serviced. I really liked it but the engine felt really weezy

I have a 152 highline.Very good car .Bought it at just 300 km as it was a pre reg.Plenty of power and handling etc excellent even though it is not on mqb platform.Hasnt missed a beat with 70k km up on it now.Oil change with castrol edge every 15k kms.Couldnt be happier with it.Doesnt have 6th gear but cruises very well on motorway.

Hi Finalfurlong, interested to know what sort of economy is your car returning? How many KMs per tank? Thinking of buying same myself.

Excellent economy consistently.First couple of months was getting about 60 miles pg in mixed town/motorway.But since being run in ive been averaging 1200 -1300 km per tank which is 12 gallons in size. That is over 66 miles pg and id be beating that any time id have more motorway runs.An underated gem of a car all round.
