Is it just me or is this particular router/modem particularly bad? Re: connection drops, slow downs inability to run 2.4ghz and 5ghz concurrently. Virgin seem completely unwilling to replace it so bit of a catch 22.

    Regards.

When I was with UPC/VM I had the same issue - I just got my own decent wifi/router and used the UPC/VM supplied device just like it was a modem, disabling its wifi etc. I see there are some posts online about putting the device in bridge mode, but I just put my own wifi/router into the DMZ of the UPC/VM unit and all was good in the world.

There is a post here to show you how to get the most out of your cable internet service, with info on using your own wifi/router device.

    Best of luck

Bridge it, dont let them downgrade you to a Hub3.
