There is no licensed painkiller for sheep
But it makes a huge difference for them,if you can get something, it's well worth using. The difference somtimes in her letting down milk or not or even lying on the lambs with pain

I'd throw a soluble disprin in a ewe that had a hard lambing seems till work here

A few solpadeine are great for them. Use a big pen so ewe is less likely to lie on them

They can still drop on them while sucking,
We used to use dispirin too, probably does help.
It's scandalous in these times that there isn't something licensed,
Our vet tells us to send the inspectors to him if they have a problem with painkillers given to sheep

How many dispirin/solpidine would you give them?

Would it be something like 2 every 2 hours?

we used to give three just once, it definitely brightened them up. That and the antibiotic seemed to be enough.
Tommy heffernan was saying on thursday night that it was cruelty to leave them without pain relief after a bad lambing and there had to be a welfare issue there

Definitely they need pain relief. They can be given off-label under the cascade system. Just discuss with your vet. Nobody wants an animal in pain.

over thirty years ago an old shepherd taught me that the main reason for a ewe lying on lambs is hunger, NOT the size of pen, the lambs constantly pulling at the ewe so she lies down .........I have yet to prove him wrong.

I find it’s usually after a hard lambing that a sheep does it or if their sick.

I would have to agree, if a ewe lies on a lamb there is usually a problem other than size of pen or ewe stupidity. If the lamb gets a good suck they will go off and lie in the corner
