Long mileage between services - Opel Corsa

So my sister picked up a clean little Opel Corsa 1.2 petrol the other day. €5,500 2011, less than 100k on the clock.

I don't know anything about them, I just hear Opel's track record hasn't been great in recent years and I believe the Corsa is mainly a rental car. She wasn't having any luck finding the likes of an i20, Fiesta, Ibiza etc. Looked at a fair few to be honest. Some were rude on the phone, wouldn't take a trade in, had hidden UK plates or were heavily damaged upon viewing. One car even had a seized brake caliper and the car actually broke down on the test.

Had a look at it myself the other day and to be fair it's a very clean car. Dealer kept it a few days to do some minor work and a service, the glovebox door fell off and some trim was loose. Oil looked fairly clean to be fair and fluid levels are fine.

No issues on Cartell or anything. Apparently had 3 previous owners but the service history is worrying. First service in May 2012, so max the car would be 18 months old, it was 44,000km. Second service (not sure of the date) was 69,000km. Car is about 90,000km now. 7 year old car with 2 services? Even if it was cash in hand, wouldn't they still stamp the book?

Seems the service intervals are 20,000mi which is roughly 30,000km.

No details of the work done, but it might be worth calling to see if they have records? First service was Airside Opel, second was some indie in Dublin 4. Is it worth her going to the local main dealer and getting a service?

When looking at cars I told her all the usual advice from Boards but I'm no mechanic.

Just to be clear, she’s already bought and paid for the car at their stage?

Yeah, doesn't sound promising. The 1.2 in those Corsas is made from chocolate, 2 oil changes in ten years isn't great, some engines will take abuse but that isn't one of them.

7 year old car, 2 oil changes in 90k km...... it's bought and paid for now so all you can do it get the 3rd oil change done asap with the correct oil.

I wouldn't worry TBH. The mileage is neither incredibly low or very high for over long intervals to cause damage IMO... less than ideal no doubt.

44k kms in 18 months on factory oil a tad harsh alright but feck it, years ago now.

I'd have thought prior to sake they'd have changed the oil or at least claimed to have.

As far as I know the car got a service before it left. Any particular issues to look out for with this engine?

I wouldn't worry too much about it just keep any eye on the oil level over the next few months and if it remain constant then your home and dry.
