    Can anyone advise me on buying a new lense for Nikon d5100. Don't mind a good second hand one or is new one better option.old one smashed

    There's a lot of options. All depends on what you are looking for. Replace the "kit" 18-55 lens like, a longer zoom or a prime?

    Sounds like your not getting the best out of your lens anyway. I'd suggest selling the camera body & using your phone or a point and shoot... That way you earn some money and will probably get better results for your usage type.
