Hi folks, looking for some advice. Have a classic 160gb packed with music. Would like to transfer a couple of hundred tracks to a smaller 4GB device (again apple). What are the options (ideally easiest). Have a new laptop (windows) with iTunes installed. Would purchasing a 3rd part app be the easiest option? Any advice welcome.

Sorry, but why would you need a third party app? Just use Itunes. It's saves the songs to an iTunes library on your hard disc.

You can’t go from iPod to PC if they’re not in your library? You have to use something like Senuti? Always was the case anyway.

How did you put them onto your iPod Classic?

If it hasn't changed syncing with iTunes on a fresh laptop would completely wipe the iPod.

iTunes is typically one way traffic.
Senuti is paid for app for OS X
I think I used sharepod back in the day but it’s a long time ago!
After a bit of investigation, syncios came up trumps. Free version worked perfectly. A great app.
