Young puppy with ear infection

Hi All. My puppy has a bad ear infection. He was crying scratching and when I brought him to the vet he said its a bad infection. The vet syringed the ear and gave him an injection with antibiotics and painkillers ... (this was yesterday). He had an uncomfortable night last night with crying scratching for about an hour 4am - 5am.

I am wondering if I should be worried or if anybody has any experience with an ear infection in puppy. Will it take a few days for him to be better? He is back in the vets next week for a checkup.

You need to get the fluid out of the year, we used cotton wool to try get it out for 5 days in a row, and used drops that the vet gave us. It is a horrible pain for the dog so I would try fix it asap :(

The vet never mentioned that we should be going near the ear. The pup gets very agitated if you touch the side of his head under the ear. He is in good form now and will be on antibiotics for the next 10 days or so.

I'd leave well enough alone and follow the vets advice so if they told you to just give drops just give the drops.... but if you think he's getting worse call them and see what they think.

OMG his stuck together looking puppy ears :D:D:D:D

I included the pic to show how cute his ears are!!!

I didn't get drops just antibiotics. As he is in good form now I am going to leave him alone and see how he gets on tonight (I have an attic bed and the two dogs sleep under it so I can keep an eye through the night!!!)

The only thing I'd be worried about if he's pawing at it and aggravates it so maybe think of an inflatable collar if he does but if he's in good form just keep an eye on him :)

We've a mini schnauzer who had extremely hairy ears as a pup. My mam's dog kept sniffing at her ears and trying to hold her so he could have a good whiff one day and when I looked inside the ear there was quite a bit of brown gunky wax. She hadn't been near the ear or scratching/shaking or anything. The vet put it down to such hairy ears, she plucked the hair and cleaned them out. We got drops and anti biotics. Our groomer keeps the ears plucked and we've not had another episode since.
