    Just wondering what the difference between a contour survey and a topographical survey. I was quoted €200 for a topographical survey and €1100 for count our survey

    Write to the planning Dept ask them which one they’ll accept. Then write to the surveyor and your architect/engineer they should both agree on the detail required. I’ve had a situation where additional info was requested delaying the planning approval, requiring a second survey, because the client ignored my request for levels at initial design/planning submission stage

    contour survey just indicates 1/2m contours across the site ( like a map)
    The other gives exact levels, which should include adjacent buildings & site line info typically 160m up and down the road.
