    I'm coming back into the irish tax system after being out of it for 18 years.

    My wife is taxed a single person at the moment in the irish system.

    Ill be on 50k and she is on 12k. Ive been told to fill in a Assessable spouse election form.

    Should we be joint assessed and if so do i select this part?

    If you wish to have transferable tax credits and standard rate band allocated to the assessable spouse, please tick this box;

    or should i be filling in the rates and bands split myself?

    learning all this stuff from scratch again..
