So it's easy to find out the spec and how impressive these phones are for the price.but is there any particular reason why you wouldn't buy one of these over the other 2??

I'm between the Mi A1, Mi Mix 2 and the Mi 6.

Which would you choose over the other and are the latter worth the extra money. Thanks

The Mix 2 is a gorgeous looking phone, but I went for the Mi A1 for two simple reasons, price and Android One.

I just wanted something inexpensive (€185) with decent specs and I like the idea of Android One without all the manufacturer bloat and lack of updates which I endured with my last cheapo phone.

I'd agree, Android One is key plus for the A1 over the other two. Very clean OS, no rubbish apps.

Like everything else in life it depends on what you want. Only concern I'd have with A1 is camera in low light. So if camera is critical for you might want look at the other two.

I've a Mi Mix 2, made the mistake of ordering the chinese ROM so took me a little while to setup properly but it's lovely

AFAIK the A1 doesn't have NFC and therefore no Android/Google Pay, which is something I couldn't live without.

Of course, if you bank with BOI, you'll never have the option of Android Pay anyway :)

Correct. There's no NFC on the Mi A1. My previous phone had it but I had never used it for anything so I reckoned could live without it.

No NFC is definitely a silly omission on the Mi A1. But it really is a fantastic device, my OH loves hers. Quick, incredible battery life, nice display and stock android. One of the best devices out there.

Bought an A1 for the wife, she loved it so I bought one for me. I also love it, only negative is the camera imo. Not terrible just better available, when it comes to the overall package though it's one hell of a phone

How good is the battery? Over a day?

Exactly, down to greed. The problem is that accommodation in Ireland nowadays is not affordable any more because of that, and both buyers and tenants are at the expense of unscrupulous vendors and landlords.

Which ones have both nfc and fingerprint readers?

I chose the Note 4 mainly for it's battery life. I love it. My only criticism is s cosmetic one. It took me a couple of goes to find the right screen protector.

It keeps making me smile thinking about how much more people pay for their phones

Be very Careful of network bands on these phones.
Xiaomi devices only operate on certain network bands that won't be compatible in Ireland.
So if you buy a mi 6 and are on Vodafone network, as the mi 6 only accepts 1 of vodafones 2 different 4g bands, you won't be getting 4g in all areas of ireland.
The mi mix 2 has global bands so that's fine and different network providers (three, eir, etc.) use different Bands so make sure you check the devices bands and compare them to your providers network before you purchase.

i have mi a1, and the 2 things i miss are NFC and a built in radio.

i love the phone and don't regret the decision. Clean OS no built in ****e, fast and so far, reliable. battery lasts 24hrs plus which is a big deal for me, as i was constantly charging my last samsung.

i have had people in work stop me and ask me about it, and admire the looks, guys with iphones are jealous.

the case and screen protectors i got bundled with it are only okay. i would probably consider getting a better case from amazon.

    hope that helps.

Obviously can generate NFC but the A1 has a radio which can be easily enabled.

Dial *#*#6484#*#* on your Xiaomi Mi A1, and it will open Hardware Test Mode on Your Device,
Now Just Scroll Down to the Bottom and Your will find FMRadio option, Just tap on that, and it will ask to insert earphone, just plug in the earphone and navigate the channels with the backward and forward button appeared on your device.
