Hi all. To make a long story short my wife and myself got married abroad last year. I didnt inform anyone as we are still very young and also because i started a new job who were looking for people to be able to travel a lot and i was afraid by telling them i was married they would forget about me. Now i want to inform Revenue of this so we can be taxed jointly. To do this i believe Revenue must inform your employer of the change in your? My company sub contract accountants to do all pay roll for us. I dont want people in work knowing my situation so could i get Revenue to contact the sub contractor or maybe contact them myself? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Revenue will send a P2C form with updates for all employees to whoever is responsible within the company - it may or may not be direct to the outsourcer.

The P2C file won't say that you are married but it will be obvious from the change.

    How big is the organisation?
If it is big and impersonal it probably won't be noticed.
If it is small and the bosses sister does the accounts it definitely will be noticed when your net pay goes up.

Why are you continuing to hide this?

Thanks for your help by the way. Yes the company is multi national. Hopefully it wont be noticed. My reasons for hiding this information are because in the business i work in it is better to be single than to be tied down. (Financial sales) thank you.

It's worth noting that it would be illegal for your employer to take any action against you if they found out you were married.

Nothing wrong with being single and being tied up! Tied down is a no-no!
