Tracing underground pipes

I have a few leaks in the water pipes running around the farm. Trouble is I don’t know the runs of the pipes or how deep there buried. What are my options for tracing the pipes. They are heavy gauge hydrodare. I was thinking a sonde on the end of a cobra reel and using a CAT to pick it up but I can’t seem to find one small…
