    Simple question.

Can you drive a Honda 50 on a M licence?

Nope. It's capable of more than 45kph.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

can you expand on that ?

That said, certain modern larger-than-50cc bikes can be ridden on an AM/Car licence, e.g. some Piaggio 3-wheelers.

IIRC RSA/NDLS has removed that requirement from cat AM which has replaced cat M, so maybe they're now allowed??
NDLS licence categories doesn't mention the <= 50c.c./45KmH that the old paper M had.

What they removed was the requirement for <49cc if it exceeds 45km/h its not an AM. Not that our definition matters as the OP isn't here

Is the definition of what M which is now AM the same across the EU?

We changed our licences to the EU system a few years ago, that's the reason why we have direct access now for over 24s.

Yes. AM is an EU classification and has two barriers: <49cc AND <45km/h.

This is because in some EU countries you can ride mopeds from 14yrs of age.

I shall resign myself to my fate so.

    What options do I have?

Anything that does less than 45km/h and is <49cc. Plenty of options from scooters to off road style.

    What options do I have?

You could start here. Select Classic AM from the drop due list on this page to start. I'm sure there's more, as RSA would be behind in updatin it. Any bike shop could confirm most up to date offerings.
