Passat b6 (2007) remap

I am looking for some advice please.

I have seen a nice 1.9 tdi passat but it has only 105 bhp. This i think would leave the car very under powered. I cannot find a similar spec 2 litre passat for sale.

Would it be worthwhile to remap the 1.9 version to possibly 130 bhp or would that be more trouble than it is worth.

I know I would need to declare it to my insurance company so not certain how much extra that would cost either.

    Thanks

I suggest you go drive one and see what you think.
It is really in the eyes of the driver.

If you want more power then just go for a more powerful car, rather than remap.

I would be going from a 130 bhp golf to 105 bhp passat so would definitely feel the difference.

Trying to find a more powerful car with similar spec is proving difficult but I take your point on just getting a more powerful car. The search goes on.

    Thanks

Would have thought there would be plenty 2.0 models around?

There are just finding the right spec. Looking for 06, 07 cruise control, heated seats etc..

This is what I found, just the wrong engine

Also has advantage of possibly trading in my own car there which would save me having to sell mine privately.

If you’re trading up to an 07, wouldn’t that imply that your own car is low enough value and should be easy to sell for more than or the same as a dealer would value it at?

    What’s your budget?

Budget about 4k. Also consider audi a4

My own car is 02 golf gt tdi with high mileage so worth very little and could be a pain to sell privately even for a few hundred euro. Hence the attraction of trading at a main dealer.
