Which of these sites is the cheapest for a basic level check? Do they all tend to give NCT history and mileage at time of each NCT?

Cartell basic is 10 euros. Tells you if it's an import, how many owners and periods of ownership which is the most useful part. Then there is probably too much detail on tax paid and when. That's about it. It was useful to me as I could see the dealer had done the same check recently. The only mileage is the current reading (NMR check) so no mileage from past nct tests.

    Basic 2 star:
The number of previous owners – compare the entry on your Cartell Car Check and the VRC.
If the vehicle has been off the road for long periods – the Cartell Car Check will show tax gaps and if the tax expiry date is in the past.
If the vehicle has been imported – the Cartell Car Check will provide previous registration and date of first registration in Ireland.
Dates of sale – including all trade and private registered sales.

    Beam me up Scotty.

What about outstanding finance? That's the most important point as far as I'm concerned. It's the only potential defect/omission in the seller's description that can result in a tow truck calling to your house the following week to legally take it away, leaving you with no car and your money down the drain.

Paid Cartell about €25 few years ago and discovered the car I was seriously interested in buying off donedeal had outstanding finance, best money I ever spent.

In the basic report I could see there had been two previous finance checks made for the same car.
I also bought it from a dealer and very much doubt they would sell a car with finance owing.

You are only covered by the Consumer Protection Act 2007 if the car was bought from a Commercial Dealer. For more information contact the National Consumer Agency.

Consumer to Consumer transactions are not covered by the Consumer Protection Act 2007 or the Sale of Goods Act.

Nct don’t share mileage data to third party websites..... I’ve akways found Motorcheck has more info than others

Why scrimp a few euros by buying the cheapest history check when you’re spending thousands on a car..... things that are cheap by comparison are usually cheap for a reason....

Motorcheck have hundreds of millions of mileage readings from trade sources in Ireland and the uk..... You should also always look for service records and receipts, stickers in the windscreen of past services etc.
