Thinking of getting my teeth whitened for my wedding. Any advice/ pitfalls? Woudl I just get it done at my regular dentist or am I better going to a clinic that specialises ( if that's an option). How expensive is it? I rem hearing of people going to the North as was worth the savings but how much is it likely to cost? I also have a cap on one of my front teeth so this is a different colour already to the others. Will this look worse? Anyone any experience?

I enquired out of interest at my own dentist a few months before before my wedding last May, and decided to go ahead with it. It was around 320e I think and definitely worth it. I can't remember the brand of whitening kit right now (can check) but the dentist takes the impressions for the moulds and then you get a couple of syringes with the whitening agent and you do it at home yourself. The moulds were very thin and quite comfortable to wear. I was initially worried as my teeth are quite sensitive but it was fine, and I still have a fair bit left in the syringes.

Thanks. How long did you start the process before wedding? How long did it take to achieve results? I'm due a visit to my dentist so will ask.
Unfortunately I drink red wine and tea so assuming I'd have to stop if whitening? I'd miss my fav tipple on the big day but would like better teeth for the photos that will be there forever. I was shocked at how bad they looked in recent photos. Got me concerned about wedding pics. would hope to go mostly black and white tho which might help?

I'd say the initial visit was maybe 3 months before so by the time the mould was made and I was ready to start it might have been 6-8 weeks or so before the wedding. You will see results fairly quickly, I have yellow teeth and also drink red wine/tea/coffee and smoke sometimes and I saw results after about the third application. I didn't stop drinking anything but cut down, maybe don't have wine etc on the day of application and for a couple of days afterwards. There are instructions on that in the kit.

You use it a few times a week till you get the whiteness you want, then use it enough to maintain it then. You could do it in 3-4 weeks easily. I'll check the name of the one I used and get back to you on that. I most certainly did not deprive myself of wine the day of the wedding, no need for that :pac: We had both colour and b&w photos as well, I didn't notice a difference really.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't used the kit since the wedding :D

Just go to your dentist as soon as you can, they'll be able to tell you if you have enough time but I'd say so.

Failing that, they'll give you a good scale and polish and whiten everything up as much as possible!

Just rang dentist and can't get appt for 2 weeks but she said it should be enough time as the mould only takes a couple of days. Glad I posted!

    Quoted 280.

I noticed a difference nearly straight away with mine! Obviously the longer you use it the better the result and it lasts longer too. I got married 7 years ago and wanted a top up last year. Still had the mould so just got a few syringes from my dentist. Keeps the price down!

I got zoom done years ago here http://www.balbriggandentalcare.ie/Teeth-Whitening.html
I think I paid €250 for inhouse treatment plus a take home kit.
The in house treatment was so painful. I couldn’t handle it so stopped. I actually had to stop off at chemist on way home for nurofen!!! The home kit is perfect....you will notice an improvement after one go. Best of luck ;)

Looks like not really a runner. Met dentist and cos Ihave 2 dodgey teeth with cap/ white filling making them both more yellow than the rest (and right at the front of course!) he reckons that they will only stand out more as they can't be whitened to the same as the rest. Have been advised to consider new cap/ white fillings but warned that to redo them is risky of them falling out so I would need to avoid biting down on something hard. SOOOO soft diet for a few weeks or else... porcelain crowns at a whopping 1K per tooth! :-(

Hi, just to resurrect this thread, anyone recommend a type of treatment and place in cork city?? There seems to be special Lazer places?? What's going on? Or should I just go to my dentist :).

I'd recommend the home whitening kit. You can go to your dentist get impressions taken and they'll check the fit on the trays and you van you the gel at night till you get the results you want. I'm a dental technician (the person who who makes the trays)

I've done both and definitley the better results are with dentists. Syringe and moulds. The laser gives a good clean look but my teeth weren't as white as with the dentist. Longer lasting result too.

I went to the dentist for whitening, got molds done and used the whitening kit for 2 weeks but honestly didnt notice a big difference, after the first couple of tries my teeth were slightly brighter, they were dull as im an ex smoker but other than that, after a couple of days there was no difference at all and hardly any change after the 2 weeks, for 250 I expected to see better results.

Sometimes it depends on the gels they use also I would recommend to get teeth cleaned before starting the treatment.

    +1 for getting teeth cleaned.
Go to a good hygienist and get a scale and polish, follow it up with soda blasting, I saw better results from this than the whitening kit which I used after visit to hygienist.

I got my moulds and whitening gels for 300 in Cork. Its so sore I can't keep up the maintenance. I will be in agony with my teeth the next day.

Sensodyne works wonders on teeth, gums need to be protected though. I found if you use the gel only on the teeth then put the molds in it works easier.
